Beaches

SCHEVENINGEN BEACH


A lively sandy beach of The Hague, on the North Sea, famous for its pier, beach clubs, and water sports.

ZWARTE PAD


On the northern stretch of Scheveningen Beach, the Zwarte pad is one of the most popular areas to enjoy the laid-back seaside vibe.

ZUIDERSTRAND


Located just south of Scheveningen, Zuiderstrand is one of the quieter beaches along The Hague’s coastline.

Known for its wide sandy shores and natural dune landscape, it attracts walkers, surfers, and those looking to avoid the crowds. Facilities are more limited than at Scheveningen, but you’ll still find a few beach pavilions during the warmer months. It’s a good choice if you prefer space, nature, and a more relaxed atmosphere.

KIJKDUIN


Further southwest along the coast, Kijkduin offers a smaller, more laid-back beach experience compared to Scheveningen.

It has a compact promenade with shops, restaurants, and several beach pavilions, making it popular with locals and families. The atmosphere is calm and easy-going, ideal for a beach walk, a swim, or a casual lunch or drink by the sea.

CLINGENDAEL PARK & JAPANESE GARDEN


A historic park with scenic walking paths and a meticulously maintained Japanese Garden.

HUBERTUSDUIN


Take a wander through the sandy paths dunes with views that stretch for miles.

WESTBROEKPARK & DE WATERKANT


This spacious park is known for its rose garden, winding paths, and calm waterways. By the water’s edge, you’ll find quiet spots to sit, picnic, or simply watch the boats pass by. It’s also possible to rent a pedal boat and explore the canals yourself. A popular choice for a slow afternoon outdoors, away from the busier beach areas.

OOSTDUINPARK


Known for its rolling dunes, walking trails, and open landscapes, it’s a popular spot for hiking, cycling, and spotting wildlife. You’ll often see grazing Highland cattle helping to maintain the area. It’s a peaceful place to explore nature, with direct access to the beach and plenty of space to unwind away from the busier seaside areas.

Museums

MADURODAM


Madurodam is a miniature park where the Netherlands is brought to life in detail.

From famous landmarks and historic cities to working ports and trains, everything is recreated at a 1:25 scale. It’s an interactive experience that gives a quick and engaging overview of Dutch culture, history, and innovation, making it one of the best attractions in The Hague, especially popular for families.

MUSEUM BEELDEN AAN ZEE


Museum Beelden aan Zee is the only museum in the Netherlands dedicated entirely to sculpture.

The museum combines indoor galleries with outdoor exhibition spaces, including a sculpture garden overlooking the sea. Its collection features both modern and contemporary works, with changing exhibitions throughout the year. A visit can easily be combined with a walk along the beach or through the surrounding dunes.

LOUWMAN MUSEUM


The Louwman Museum houses one of the world’s oldest private collections of historic cars.

With over 275 vehicles on display, the museum takes you through the history of the automobile, from early horseless carriages to classic and iconic models. Alongside the cars, you’ll find art, memorabilia, and stories that place each piece in its historical context.

ESCHER IN HET PALEIS 


Located in a former royal palace in The Hague, Escher in Het Paleis is dedicated to the work of Dutch artist M.C. Escher.

The museum showcases his famous optical illusions, impossible constructions, and mathematical prints. Interactive exhibits help explain his techniques and ideas, making it both visually engaging and thought-provoking.

MUSEUM VOORLINDEN


Situated just outside The Hague in Wassenaar, Museum Voorlinden is a modern museum set within a spacious park landscape.

It focuses on contemporary and modern art, with a mix of permanent installations and temporary exhibitions. The museum is known for its light-filled architecture and immersive artworks, making it a popular destination for both art lovers and visitors looking for a more experiential museum visit.

MAURITSHUIS


Set in a 17th-century palace, the museum features masterpieces by artists such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Frans Hals, including the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring. Its intimate size makes it easy to explore in a short visit while still offering a rich cultural experience.
